Completed in the fall of 2022, Cece Carpio’s mural is the newest in the SOMA Pilipinas Cultural Heritage District! SOMA West CBD was there to support celebrating the mural’s completion, tucked away in an ally on Bryant Street. The mural is worth seeking out. Cece Carpio is a talented local artist whose work can be seen all over the Bay Area. This gorgeous mural, in particular, features familiar and popular modes of public transportation- Jeepneys and Muni buses and inter-generational Filipinos of the diaspora navigating both worlds of the Philippines and San Francisco. The community event featured Filipino treats and speeches by the artist and community members.

We’re proud of SOMA West CBD Staff Member Pandora for organizing the Socksgiving Event. We would like to express our enormous gratitude to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the SF Cat Club for hosting the event.

A massive new mural was just unveiled in the district on the 2,500 square foot facade of Oasis Nightclub at 11th and Folsom

On May 4th in SOMA West, there are not 1, not 2, but 3 Star Wars parties!
All 3 parties are located in the SOMA West nightlife area, within just a short walking distance of each other, so you don't have to choose.
There is no try, there is only DANCE!

One of the most popular ideas we've received since our CBD started is to bring a #farmersmarket to western SOMA. For this to be successful, community input is vital. We're looking at 12th Street and Harrison (Eagle Plaza) as a potential location.

On Sunday, March 27th, SOMA West CBD joined our neighbors at SF Parks Alliance, TogetherSF, and local community members for the first of hopefully many neighborhood cleanup days!

On Thursday, March 10th, 2022, the SOMA neighborhood showed up in full force to the Silence the Violence March for Peace.

Something incredible happens when you close down a street and add music. It stops people in their tracks, entices them to stop and stay awhile. Add some string lights for ambiance, some hot cocoa to sweeten the deal, and suddenly, you have a space reimagined - a place for the community to come together and enjoy themselves.

Moss Street is so much more than an alleyway – it’s home to our neighbors, small businesses, great organizations, and with the Moss Street Metamorphosis project happening soon, it will be a public space for the SOMA community.

The SOMA West Community Benefit District works to improve the lives of all people in our neighborhood. However, this week we were able to do more than merely improve lives.
