Dear Community,

On November 28, Mayor London Breed has announced that San Francisco is now at a “Purple” alert level—Purple indicates the highest level of risk to our city. To prioritize the safety of our staff and community, SOMArts will be closed to the public until further notice, and our administrative team will work remotely Monday–Friday. We’ve compiled an ongoing list of COVID–19 resources that can be viewed here.

We recognize that for many, art provides a reprieve from our current reality, and while our physical space may not be open, we invite you to visit our virtual gallery page by clicking here. The Black Woman is God virtual gallery is a digital replica of SOMArts’ Main Gallery, and features artist videos and artwork information.

During this holiday season when we may be separated from our families, please remember that these decisions are acts of care to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. No words can underscore the gravity of these sacrifices and we hope that you are able to find moments of joy and connection in the days to come.

If you are at the capacity to give, consider making a donation to organizations such as Coalition on Homelessness, who provide crucial services for our most vulnerable neighbors.

In community,
SOMArts
